Angelfish or Butterflyfish?

Angelfish (left) have a visible rear facing spine on the gill cover which is absent in butterflyfish (right). Angelfish are usually larger, growing up to 60cm in length and usually have more brilliant patterns and colours and larger scales. Butterflyfish are smaller, growing up to 30cm in length. Many have bright orange and yellow markings and often have false eye spots near the tail.
